Tulisa premieres new single ‘Live It Up’ feat Tyga

Tulisa Contostavlos has premiered her new single ‘Live It Up’.

The track received its first play on Capital FM this morning and is the follow up to the X Factor judge’s ‘Young’ which topped the chart earlier this year.

Written by Rico Love (Usher, Beyoncé, Chris Brown) and featuring a guest appearance from US hip hop artist Tyga, ‘Live It Up’ is definitely an improvement on her debut release.

The new single leans away from the dance pop sound of ‘Young’, which sounded like the poor and cobbled-together attempt of an artist jumping on a bandwagon governed by what is supposedly popular. Imagine Rihanna’s ‘Cheers (Drink To That’, and you’re not far off the mark.

‘Live It Up’ may lyrically be equally as naff  (“So we should live it up, put something in your cup…”) and lack a real belter of a chorus, but is is good to see Tulisa stepping out in the urban direction, where she made her mark as the frontwoman of N-Dubz.

‘Live It Up’ will be available for download from 10 September, with the singer’s debut solo album expected to be released later this year. Listen to ‘Live It Up’ below.
